JAPANESE FAIRY TALES
For this project, I hand drew the images on the cover and back, which represent different stories in the book, as well as the Kanji characters on the chapter heads. I decided to do Japanese Fairy Tales so I could incorporate both the Japanese and American influence I have from my life into my designs. I also decided to hand write the chapter numbers in Kanji to incorporate the Japanese culture and calligraphy feel into the translated English version of the Japanese Fairy Tales. There are so many beautiful patterns, colors and designs in the Japanese culture through their art, wallpaper, kimonos, etc. I wanted to use just a piece of this in the design with the colorful, pattern shown in each drawing. Each of the six images are from six of the most famous fairy tales in Japan.
